- Curses is an absolutely wonderful text adventure game written by
- Graham Nelson. If you loved the old Infocom text adventure games,
- you'll love Curses.
-
- In fact, Curses was written with Inform, a language that Nelson wrote
- to be compatible with Infocom games. To play curses, therefore, you'll need
- an Infocom interpreter. NOTE THAT YOU CANNOT RUN CURSES WITHOUT AN
- INFOCOM INTERPRETER.
-
- I recommend ZIP, which you ought to be able to find in the same place that you found
- Curses. (Make sure that you don't confuse ZIP with the compression software of the
- same name.) At Sumex-aim, ZIP ought to be /info-mac/game/zip.hqx.
-
- To play Curses, download both Curses and ZIP and, if necessary, de-binhex and de-stuff
- them. Then double-click on the ZIP icon. You'll get a standard file dialogue,
- which you should use to select Curses. Click on open, and the game will start.
-
- Once the game is running, you can type "help" at any point to get a detailed help
- screen.
-
- I am not in any way affiliated with Curses, ZIP, Inform, or Infocom. I just think
- that Curses and ZIP are terrific programs, and I want to make them available
- to as wide a part of the Mac community as possible.
-
- If you love text-adventure games--or, more broadly, "interactive fiction"--I urge
- you to check out the Usenet groups rec.arts.int-fiction and rec.games.int-fiction.
- You should also browse around in the interactive fiction archive at ftp.gmd.de; it's
- in the directory /if-archive.
-
- Enjoy!
